Season 57 would be the first full season for Rakhee Thakrar as the Doctor, the first season for Ronak Patani as Daniel Neshwin, & the fifth season for Pete McTighe as showrunner - now acting as the sole showrunner. After having starred in 1/2 a season which was dominated by her predecessor, before being thrown into a fan-pleasing, Multi-Doctor event with her Twelfth incarnation, Season 57 would mark the "true" beginning of the Sixteenth Doctor. Despite being the 60th Anniversary Season, McTighe decided not to copy the formula of Seasons 20 & 49, which consisted of having every story featuring a fan-favourite monster. Instead, Season 57 would follow the likes of Seasons 10, 30 & 40 by having some fan favourites return, but making sure not to be overwhelmed in nothing but nostalgia & fan-service. The last ten years had been nothing short of a roller coaster for Doctor Who. From very narrowly avoiding the chopping block, to earning new found respect from the general public once again, it's safe to say that the 1990s had been a saving grace for the show. As the year 2000 began, at the dawn of a new century, there was no doubt that Doctor Who would return for new adventures.
